Aisha’s Big Day
As I enter Aisha’s Sudanese family home, I smell the joyful wedding scent of Khumra. Through the thick fog of Bukhoor that is being prepared for the Jertik occasion, I see the red, blue, and gold striped gramasees fabric. It holds the tray that carries the aromatic essences in preparation for her big day. Seeing the beautifully handmade cylinder Houk that contains the bukoor, makes me reminisce my delightful memories of Sudan
